Four People Shot at Howe Community Park — Unauthorized Event Descends into Chaos





Late Saturday evening, an unsanctioned event of a large crowd at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento ended in a shooting when upwards of 20 gunshots rang out as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were in the midst of clearing the area.

The Incident

Shortly after 6:30 PM, the SCSO received calls regarding individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the park. An additional caller indicated a potential fight and individuals running from the park.

Law enforcement air support was deployed and conducted an aerial search but found no evidence of any ongoing altercation.

Despite this, several hundred people had gathered at the park for what officials called an unauthorized event. Deputies encircled the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse using public address systems.

As officers worked to clear the park, upwards of 20 gunshots filled the night air — sending hundreds of people running in panic.

Victims of the Shooting

Four people — a woman and three men, ranging in age through their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. All four were listed as stable.
